Assorted Guppie - Males
C$4.00Price
Male guppies are colorful and active fish with flowing tails, adding beauty to any aquarium. Their hardy nature makes them excellent choices for beginners.
- Level of Difficulty: Beginner
- Appearance: Males are smaller, 1.5–2 inches, with a kaleidoscope of colors and ornamental tails in patterns like cobra, mosaic, and snakeskin.
- Schooling Fish: Not true schooling fish, but guppies prefer to be in groups of at least 6 to reduce stress. However, if paired with females they will breed easily and very quickly as they do not lay eggs but give birth to live babies.
- Behavior: Peaceful but active, males may occasionally display fin-nipping behavior toward each other if overstocked.
- Compatible Tankmates: Live well with other peaceful species like neon tetras, harlequin rasboras, and corydoras. Avoid housing with aggressive fish such as bettas.
- Husbandry: Requires a tank of at least 10 gallons with water temperatures of 72–82°F and a pH of 6.8–7.8. Adding live plants and hiding spots can enhance their environment.
- Diet: Omnivorous; feeds on high-quality flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp.
- Common Name: Guppy
- Scientific Name: Poecilia reticulata
