Armadillium depressum, also known as pill bugs or pill millipedes, are notable for their ability to roll into a ball when threatened. These isopods are fantastic for bioactive setups.
- Level of Difficulty: Intermediate
- Appearance: They have a smooth, armored exoskeleton and can roll into a ball. They grow to about 1 inch in size.
- Behavior: Require plenty of cork and leaf litter. Peaceful and social, these isopods are excellent at decomposing organic matter.
- Husbandry: Keep in a moist environment (70–80% humidity) with a temperature range of 68–75°F. Provide plenty of leaf litter and organic material.
- Diet: They feed on decaying plant matter, wood, and organic debris. But can also be fed additional food if kept as pet, such as fish flakes, dried fish, Pangaea food and more. Also need calcium supplements such as cuttlebone, is necessary to ensure healthy exoskeleton growth.
